Statements from the Valencia CF player after signing his contract extension
Jesús Vázquez will remain a Valencia CF player until 30 June 2028. The Valencian full-back spoke to VCF Media Radio about his contract renewal with the Club.
Career at Valencia CF
“I’ve been here since I was five years old and I’m 22 now, it’s practically the only team I’ve ever played for. This is a new challenge, because at the end of last season things improved a lot, also for me personally, and what’s coming, I see it as a new challenge. I take it on with a lot of ambition and a desire to show all the potential I have inside, and for things to go well collectively.”
Mestalla
“It’s been 17 years here, I’ve played in all kinds of stadiums, and there are very few, if any, like Mestalla. It’s full every single matchday, and the players who come from outside get scared. That’s what we have to keep doing. Deep down, I dream of debuting at the Nou Mestalla — it’s a feeling I have, and it’s one of the reasons I decided to renew.”
Corberán
“Every coach gives you something: some teach you more about defending, others give you more freedom in attack, new systems… and I wouldn’t leave any of them out. All of them have helped me both personally and professionally. I try to show my best every single day. Since the moment they arrived, I’ve had a good connection with them, and they’ve shown confidence in me. That was something really important that I needed. I felt I’d grown a lot, and that’s what I need in what’s coming now. If we compete like we did in the second half of last season, I’m sure we’ll have a lot of joy.”
Preseason
“We always feel it, when we push ourselves during preseason, then when the pace drops and it’s not so hot during the season, you’ve got an extra gear. That’s why we need to push hard now.”
2025/26 Season
“We’re taking it on with a lot of excitement. Last season ended well. It was a tough year, but we’re all working very hard, seriously and with the right mindset for what’s ahead. Above all, we’re very united. Both the fans and us, we all want to see the Valencia CF from the second half of last season out on the pitch again.”
Advice for young players at the VCF Academy
“To enjoy it and work hard, to give it a go and not be afraid.”
Most special moments
“My debut in the Copa del Rey, the Copa del Rey final we won, and the one we almost won. One dream? To lift a trophy one day with Valencia CF.”
